Today I attended a dialogue with the private hospitals lead by the Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam, organised by the Malaysian Health Travel Council (MHTC). Malaysia is now witnessing rising number of health patients coming from around the globe. Between the years 2010 and 2013, we recorded a double digit growth in terms of number of healthcare travellers and revenue generated. In 2010, the number of healthcare travellers recorded was 393,000 but this figure rose to 770,000 in 2013 indicating an impressive growth of 96% over 3 years. The top 10 countries of origin for healthcare travellers in the year 2013 were Indonesia, India, Japan, China, Libya, the United Kingdom, Australia, USA, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
