DENGUE CAN KILL YOUR LOVED ONES…HOW SERIOUS ARE YOU IN PREVENTING IT?

Minister of Health today chaired a special meeting with the relevant divisions, clinical experts and researchers in response to the alarming rise in DENGUE cases nationwide especially in Selangor.
For the first 3 weeks of 2015, there has been 8502 dengue cases reported with 20 DEATHS. In comparison during the same time period in 2014, there were 5141 cases and only 7 deaths.
There was a change in the dengue serotype from DEN2 to DEN1 late last year, which partly contributed to the spike at the end of 2014. This is expected to contribute to the rise in the first quarter of 2015, which is also influenced by the mobility of infected individuals moving from one location to another (disease transmission via the Aedes mosquito), indiscriminate LITTERING, poor maintenance of housing areas & low/medium-cost apartments and difficulty in starting and sustaining community mobilisation programmes.
