4th WHO-OECD Consultation on
Healthcare Quality Improvement Network Asia-Pacific
The 4th WHO-OECD Consultation on Healthcare Quality Improvement Network Asia-Pacific was officially closed yesterday afternoon. This prestigious international meeting held on 15th-17th Dec 2015 was officiated by MOH on behalf of Malaysia as the host country and representatives from WHO & Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Korea Policy Centre. This conference was mentioned previously in our blog entry titled ‘Patient Safety Must Always be A Priority’.
The meeting focused on healthcare indicators to measure quality of care and also patient safety; patient engagement to improve patient safety; and patient experience. More than 50 delegates from 20 Asia Pacific Countries and WHO Technical Officers from Western Pacific and South East Asia Region attended.
Malaysia as the host presented our ‘Hospital Performance Indicators’, ‘Malaysian Patient Safety Goals’ and ‘Patients for Patient Safety Malaysia Initiative’.
Delegates also visited Putrajaya Hospital and National Cancer Institute. The main organisers OECD and WHO as well as delegates were impressed with Malaysia’s quality initiatives and the overall organisation of the event by the Medical Care Quality Section particularly Patient Safety Unit and Institute of Health System Research, MOH.
Congratulations to all for the job well done! This will certainly open opportunities for more international collaboration and information sharing to improve quality of care globally.
