- Menambah jumlah katil rawatan COVID-19 sedia ada di HSgB (ditingkatkan kepada 630 buah katil);
- Menambah jumlah katil rawatan COVID-19 sedia ada di HKL (ditingkatkan kepada 831 buah katil);
- Menukar status Hospital Rehabilitasi Cheras (HRC) kepada hospital hibrid COVID-19 dengan 230 buah katil COVID-19;
- Elakkan bersalaman / bersentuhan termasuk melagakan mana-mana bahagian tubuh badan sebagai menggantikan cara kebiasaan bersalam;
- Amalkan etika batuk dan bersin;
- Dapatkan rawatan segera jika bergejala;
- Duduk di rumah dan elakkan kunjung-mengunjung;
- S : Syarat-syarat seperti yang ditetapkan di bawah Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Pemulihan (PKPP);
- O : Orang yang berisiko tinggi seperti kanak-kanak, bayi, warga emas dan orang kurang upaya (OKU) perlu dilindungi, individu tidak sihat dan bergejala dikehendaki segera menjalani pemeriksaan kesihatan;
Sekian, terima kasih.

COVID-19 Preparedness for States in the Klang Valley and Establishment of the Central Region COVID-19 Unified Command Centre
In the early stages of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, MOH only utilised Sungai Buloh Hospital (HSgB) and Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) as COVID-19 treatment hospitals. Meanwhile, the National Leprosy Control Centre (PKKN) is used as the COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for patients in categories 1 and 2 in Selangor and WP Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya. However, the increase in the number of COVID-19 patients in these states has resulted in these hospitals recording high bed occupancy rates.
Therefore, as a preparedness measure to accommodate the admission of patients following the surge in COVID-1 cases in the Klang Valley states, MOH has taken the following steps:
- Increase the number of existing COVID-19 treatment beds in HSgB (increased to 630 beds)
- Increase the number of existing COVID-19 treatment beds in HKL (increased to 831 beds)
- Convert the status of Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (HRC) to a COVID-19 hybrid hospital with 230 COVID-19 beds
- Re-opened eight (8) blocks at the MOH Training Institute (ILKKM) in Sungai Buloh as a COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) with a capacity of 2,400 beds
- Continue the use of the National Leprosy Control Centre (PKKN) as a COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) with a current capacity of 648 beds
Therefore, up to 18 November 2020, the number of beds for Selangor and WP Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya has increased almost 14 times from 345 beds on 1 October 2020 to 4,739 beds.
Strategic planning to increase the number of beds involves six facilities i.e. HKL, HSgB, HRC, PKKN, ILKKM and Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital (HATTM) in the two states as well as the cooperation of various agencies i.e. the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM), Malaysian Volunteer Department (RELA) and the Community Welfare Department (JKM). This collaborative effort requires close coordination and communication between all agencies. MOH congratulates and thanks for all the assistance and close cooperation given by all these agencies.
To streamline the governance and operation of all hospitals and PKRC in Selangor and WP Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya, MOH with the support of the National Security Council (MKN) has established the Central Region COVID-19 Unified Command Centre (Pusat Kawalan Bersepadu COVID-19 Wilayah Tengah) which will be led by the Selangor State Health Director, Dato’ Indera Dr Sha’ari bin Ngadiman, and assisted by Dr Sarah binti Shaikh Abdul Karim, Emergency Physician from HSgB as the Deputy.
It is hoped that the strong cooperation of the MOH with other agencies as well as the establishment of the Central Region COVID-19 Unified Command Centre will be able to streamline the COVID-19 pandemic response in Selangor and WP Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya.
Health Advisory on COVID-19
MOH advices the public to continue to comply to the recommendations and health advisories that are often emphasised. These advisories must be incorporated as the new normal in our daily life, including:
- Avoid the 3Cs: Avoid Crowded places; Confined spaces; and Close conversations.
- Practice the 3Ws: Wash hands frequently with water and soap; Wearing facemasks is now mandatory in public areas (starting from 1 August 2020 as directed by the National Security Council) or highly recommended if symptomatic; Warn self and others for the following, in line with MOH’s advisories:
- Avoid shaking hands or touching others, including bumping parts of the body in lieu of shaking hands
- Practice good coughing and sneezing etiquette
- Seek early treatment if symptomatic
- Stay at home and avoid from visiting others
- Regularly clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces in common areas
In addition to the SOPs, continue to adhere to THiS as the new normal:
- T: Terms set under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO)
- Hi: High-risk groups such as children, infants, older adults and the disabled must be protected, and if unwell with symptoms, to seek early treatment
- S: Safe physical distancing is practiced at all times, of at least 1 metre away from others
MOH will continue to monitor the development of the COVID-19 situation, both in the country as well as internationally, based on available information from the World Health Organization (WHO). The public will be continuously updated on the latest information. In addition, MOH will ensure that appropriate preventive and control measures are continuously implemented.
Thank you.
